Jano Ananidze is
a player for the ages. A great player with incredible talent, Jano will be
remembered for a long time. Only 20 years old Jano has emerged as an important
player for his national side Georgia. Debuting at a young age for Spartak
Moscow in 2009, he has proved himself as an exceptional talent over the past 4
years. Scoring 10 goals for his club and twice for his country Jano is slowly
earning recognition around the world with players such as Iker Casillas
commending the young Georgians skills.
Jano is an
exceptional passer of the ball, sometimes likened to Xavi the way he can cut
through a defence. He as a great turn of pace allowing him to easily beat
defenders and dribble past opponents with ease. However, labelled as a
playmaker, his strength comes in his great vision. Best suited playing behind
the striker, this allows Jano to collect the ball higher up the field and relay
passes to the frontman. Through his outstanding passing and vision he can then
pick out great passes that will split open a defence and give the attacker a
great chance to score. Being able to read the game very well makes Jano a very
naturally gifted footballer. His quick thought processing and able to deliver
the right pass or beat a defender when necessary makes him a big threat to any
defence.
Being a small
player both in size and build has left Jano with limited opportunities for
Spartak Moscow over the last few seasons. His short build leaves him with a
disadvantage against more physical teams, being shoved of the ball easier and
his cautious approach to hard tackles. Playing in Russia with the cold weather
and more physical teams has not helped his progression with being more physical
and his tendency to remain on the floor or get taken off after the knocks he
receives prove to be a great disadvantage for the young player.
I have likened
him to Luka Modric and Oscar. It is hard to compare him to anyone player due to
his unique style and skill. The combination of Oscars pace and ability to turn
and run past players, along with Modric’s passing and vision for me best sums
up his technical ability. With all these attributes combining, Jano Ananidze
has a very bright future ahead of him. With the only downside of his
physicality Jano can become one of the worlds leading playmakers in a couple of
years and is a fantastic talent to look out for in the future.
