Robert Kenedy
Nunes do Nascimento is a 17-year-old Brazilian who plays for Fluminense. He is
primarily a winger and can play on either side, but he has also been known to play upfront.
He shone in the recent Al Kass tournament where Fluminense were crowned
champions after their victory over PSG in the final. He was an outstanding
performer in the matches they played and won several Most Valuable Player
awards. In April he took part in the u-17 South American Championships for
Brazil ending as their top scorer in the tournament with 6 goals. He began the
tournament, not as a reagular starter in the first three games but managed to
score 3 goals in the process. For the remaining 3 games in which he
participated he scored a further 3 goals that brought his tally to 6 goals. He
signed a professional contract with the club till 2016, and Fluminense see him
as an ideal replacement for Wellington Nem who is Shakhtar bound. He recently
made his senior debut coming on as a substitute in a 2-0 loss to Gremio.
Robert Kenedy is
an extremely quick player and very suited to playing on the wing. He has great
technical ability when on the ball and is able to keep the ball at his feet
while dribbling, which allows him to take on and beat defenders easily. He has
great awareness in the attacking third of the pitch and is on hand to finish of
great team plays. He is a strong and fast player and is tall for his age. This
gives him a great advantage as he can use his pace and strength to aid him
while taking on any defence. A strong left boot, Kenedy (as he prefers to be
called) is a player with immense talent and great shot technique. He
demonstrated this in a game against Peru for the Brazil U-17 team. Although he
is still young, he has recently been promoted to the Fluminense first team and
therefore he is expected to slowly make more appearances for the club in the
coming year. He is mainly a forward who likes to score goals, but he also can
provide great assists for his teammates.
I have likened
him to Hulk and Robben as he is a left footed player with great ball control
and technique. His similarity with Robben is his ability to dribble with close
control and take on defenders and beat them. His similarity with Hulk is not
only because they are both Brazilian but because of his ability to shoot from a
long distance with good pace.
He is a player
to watch out for in the future. He gave an interview after the Al Kass
tournament about his dream to play in Europe and how he loves Chelsea due to
their Brazilian players Oscar, Ramires and David Luiz. Although right now he is
primarily concerned with his future with Fluminense and improving and maturing
as a complete footballer. However, a move to Europe in the future cannot be
ruled out. It would be a pleasure to watch him play in the Champions League.

Today I would like to start commenting on the blog before I start my comment on the player at hand. Congratulations Aniket for starting this blog raising awareness on upcoming players that don't get that much attention from the media yet but that will grow to be the best players we will be seeing in a recent future. As a friend I know the passion for football that you have and more importantly the knowledge about the game and about the players that many times when I read this blog I haven't even heard of. However this time we are talking Brazil and I consider myself a specialist in this area.
ReplyDeleteKenedy got promoted to the professional team not too long ago and debuted on Fluminense last Sunday getting in at the second half when the team was already losing 1x0 and ended up losing the game 2x0. Kenedy got in as a striker but as you said on your post he can play other positions such as lw/rw. In my opinion striker is the position he should be playing in because he shows great ability on the finishing (especially from far) more so than driving the ball from the sides and creating plays. It's too bad he debuted for Fluminense when the team is in a terrible situation on and off the field. On the field the team is in 17th place and if the tournament was to end today they would be going to the second division of the brazilian national tournament. That's a bad spot for him because a 17 year old kid should not be the "solution" to get a team as big as Fluminense out of a bad spot on the tournament as they are. Off the field, Rio's football was never the most organized one and Fluminense lives a bad political scene and just fired their manager Abel Braga which in my view was a bad move. Kenedy will be a great player that will be going to Europe in the soon future along with Santos player Neilton, who also is murdering it on the professionals and is being compared to players such as Robinho and neymar. I know I usually don't let the almighty out of my comments but today ill let them rest and let Kenedy take on the spotlight!!!! Sick post keep it up i love it when the brazilians are on here!!!
sick one bro thanks a lot. i will keep on posting and will keep looking for your comments, especially on the brazilian players you know so well. hopefully your beloved almighty will sign one of these players and will make them great footballers.
