Kingsley Coman
is a 17-year-old French player who currently plays for PSG. He is talked about
a lot amongst the youth coaches in PSG as one of the most important young
players within their academy. On a national level he plays for the French youth
set up having played for the U-16s and now the U-17s. He made his PSG debut
coming on for Marco Verrati in a 3-2 loss against Sochaux, making him the youngest
player ever to play for PSG. Although he only had 5 minutes of playing time,
Coman showed his eagerness during the match and his hardworking nature that he
brings along with it. He is an attacking midfielder who also plays on the wing.
His performances in the Next Gen series earned him the call up to first team
training after Ancelotti was impressed with his performances for the youth
side. He was subsequently registered for the second half of PSG’s champions
league campaign.
Coman is a very
technically gifted player. Predominantly right footed, however he is also very
adept with his weaker left foot. This makes him a very dangerous threat both in
the center of midfield and the wings. He is a fast player suited for the wings
with great technique and ball control. He has quick acceleration that allows
him to move fast both on and off the ball. In addition to this, he has very
good vision and can make a cutting pass without spending too much time on the
ball. A very intelligent footballer, Coman knows the right times to make runs,
give balls and can beat defenders when taking them on. He is a real talent that
will be making headlines in the future, be it for club or country. Coman is a
hardworking player who will give his full commitment to the team, either
defensively or offensively. His only real weakness is his experience and lack
of matches. When deployed in the youth levels, Coman is a mature player
however, his ablity can sometimes get to his head and he will make careless
errors or do some things which he knows he shouldn’t do on the pitch. These can
only be altered with more experience and more time playing bigger games. Only
17 Coman has a long future ahead of him, maybe a few loan spells in France can
help him gain experience before breaking into the first team at PSG.
I have likened
him to Pedro, Cristian Tello, Wilfried Zaha, and Cristiano Ronaldo. I have done
this for two reasons. I have likened him to Pedro due to the effort he puts in
for the team both offensively and defensively as well as his great dribbling abilities
and his nature of taking on defenders from the wing. I have likened him to both
Ronaldo and Zaha due to the style of play by which he plays and the pace he possesses on the wings and the ease at which he is able to run past the defender . A quick player
with long legs and a great ability to beat defenders, as well as doing some tricks,
he shows a lot of similarities to both these players. However, I would probably
say he is more like Pedro due to the defensive work the winger puts in
for the team.
He has been linked with a move to Man City and is on Man United's radar. However, I think it is all paper talk and he will remain at PSG for the foreseeable future.

Whoever debuts for any professional team at the age of 16 deserves my respect. I mean not even neymar, one of the biggest and most promising names in football today did not debut that early, he was 17 in his first professional match for santos. I am excited to hear more about this French Kid who, as you said it in your article, is definitely going to be making headlines be it for his club or for his country. I think PSG is a great club for promising names such as Kingsley coman cause they offer top infra structure and all the support this kid needs to grow as a professional player and eventually be negotiated to a team of bigger expression.
ReplyDeleteThis article actually inspired me to talk about the best team in the world currently, the almighty Corinthians, who just approved the construction of the new youth training center that will have the same structure, if not better, as the professional training center. It is true that Corinthians has not put too many youth players out in the world in the recent past but I tell you that's about to change!! Brazilian football has always been a reference for making new young players and that's about to get better.
Anyways I'm excited to hear more about Kingsley Coman (as long as he doesn't play well whenever he plays against Brasil of course) as a promising French footballer and more about the new young Corinthians talents that about to surge in the recent future!
