Victor Andrade
is a 17-year-old Brazilian who plays for Santos in the Brasilerao. His most
comfortable position is as a left-winger or forward, however he has also played
on the right sometimes. He made his debut for the first team on the 6th
June 2012 at the young age of 16. Since his debut he has become a permanent
fixture in the Santos squad. During the 2011/2012 season Andrade managed 19
appearances for the first team, 11 coming as a substitute, scoring 3 goals and
providing 2 assists. The goal he scored that gave he widespread praise by the
coach and players was his delicate chip against Flamengo.
He is a quick
player who has a great first touch and ball control. When facing goal he is not
afraid to shoot and he possesses a great finishing shot. Andrade is definitely
a very talented player, but what he needs to work on is his attitude and
maturity. After a rift with former coach Muricy Ramalho he was demoted to the
u-20 team. However, the beginning of this season saw him return to the senior
squad during their pre-season. Andrade has been interviewed and profiled by the
media and this may have gotten to the head of this youngster. He needs time and
guidance in order to achieve and reach the levels he is capable of.
Many people have
compared Andrade to former Santos players Neymar and Robinho. He plays with a
similar style, flair and technique to these players. His pace and acceleration
gives him similar recognition to Neymar and Robinho, however it is his maturity
and attitude that needs developing. Andrade has been adviced and helped by
several of his Santos teammates in the importance of keeping a level head and
focusing on football in order to improve his skills. After the departure of
Neymar and the recent sacking of Muricy Ramalho it will be interesting to see
whether the new manager will use Andrade as Neymar’s replacement and expose him
to regular first team football. It is important for him and his development
that he gets increased playing time for Santos. Although still young, Andrade
can become one of the brightest young talents to come out of Brazil in the
coming years. Santos are very confident of his abilities that they placed a 50m
euro release clause for foreign clubs and a 30m euro release clause for
Brazilian clubs in his contract. Santos are not strangers to breeding great
young talents, and only time will tell whether Andrade will be one of the
diamonds to come out of Santos. We know he has the talent and potential,
through the right guidance he can very well become one of Santos’ senior and
most talented players.

Santos was smart in placing a 50m release clause on the kid cause rumors say that him and Barcelona have already talked and discussed his future playing for the Spanish club. Apparently barca flew him to Spain to watch a game vs. Benfica and obviously discuss his future. But the kid is a great player and though I don't think he is in the same level as neymar he def going to be a star on santos in the years to come and eventually go to Europe! However I wouldn't be surprised if the best team in the world currently, the Brazilian superpower Corinthians, makes an offer for him in two or three years!
ReplyDeleteAll in all, another great Young Brazilian player.
