Giovanni
Piccolomo is a 19-year-old Brazilian who plays for Corinthians in the Brazilian
League. In 2011 he played in the junior league for the Corinthians u-17 team
and won a lot of praise as well as achieving many accomplishments with the side.
This included a brace in the semi-final of the Sao Paulo junior cup against
Atletico Paranaense. Through his performances there he earned a call up to the
Corinthians first team by manager Tite. He made his debut in April 2012 against
Ponte Preta after which he continued to be called up to the Corinthians first
team squad. He scored his first goal against Gremio in September of that year
in a 3-1 victory over Gremio. The goal was met with a lot of praise for the way
in which he was composed when finishing. Through his performances in the league
Giovanni earned a place in the Corinthians squad for the Club World Cup that
they ended up winning by beating Chelsea 1-0 in the final. Achieving all this
at the age of 18 has provided him with good experience and vital time with the
first team to help him evolve and mature in his game.
Giovanni possesses
great talent with the ball at his feet. A player with exceptional dribbling
skills and ball control Giovanni is very good at driving at the defender and
taking on a player. Most commonly found on the right wing, he can also play
central in attacking midfield roles. He is a player with great passing ability
feeding great balls into teammates to attack and run on to. He has a great eye
for goal as well as great positioning which makes him a big threat in the
attacking third of the field. Giovanni is a player who is a hard worker and a
great team player always giving the most for the team he plays for. These are
important qualities for a player of his age and important in his development as
a player. Only 19, Giovanni has a bright future ahead of him and more
appearances for the Corinthians first team is essential for his development as
a player. He was linked to AC Milan during the transfer of Pato from Milan to
Corinthians with Milan looking to bring the player to San Siro after singling
out Giovanni as a bright prospect for the future. However, with Corinthians not
keen on selling their young star it is important for him to show his worth to
the team through the efforts he displays on the field.
I have likened
Giovanni as a player similar to Chelsea’s Oscar and Kaka due to their similar
styles of play. All players are very quick with their feet and possess great
passing ability. Their shooting technique as well as their positioning provide
them with great mobility on the field and allow them to adapt to several
positions in the attacking third of the pitch. Although Giovanni is younger he
is slowly developing and maturing into a well-rounded player. With more
experience it is a matter of time before he is able to break into the
Corinthians first team and cement his place in the starting line up.

I would like to start this comment off by stating how important Corinthians has become in the international football scene. A club that went from the second division in the Brazilian national championship in 2008, to win the Americas and subsequently the World in 2012 against Chelsea. Giovanni is a great midfielder raised by Corinthians and that has a promising future in the international football scene. His ability to pass and to shoot the ball from outside the box is something few players have and as he matures as a person and as a player he will become even better and will bring Corinthians many titles in the future.
ReplyDeleteToday Corinthians is the only Brazilian club working hard to make their own club bigger and bigger inside and outside of Brazil and also they are working hard to make the whole Brazilian football scene better. In foresee that in the next 5 years Corinthians will be one of the biggest clubs in the world, as big as European clubs today! All I can say is VAI CORINTHIANS and all success in the world for the future!
